Ruth Naseer

Ruth Naseer [Ruth A. Naseer] participated multiple times in the pro-Hamas encampment at UofT in May 2024. The encampment was also in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

On May 4, 2024, Naseer posted on Instagram a video of herself participating [00:00:58] in the encampment.

In May 2024, Naseer posted on LinkedIn photos of herself at the encampment and wrote: “ UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO ST. GEORGECAMPUS PROTEST IN TORONTO FORNAKBA. 76…”

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by drawing a comparison to the Holocaust, known in Hebrew as the Shoah, meaning “catastrophe.”

The modern State of Israel was founded 76 years earlier, in 1948.

On May 11, 2024, Naseer was featured in a Facebook photo participating in an anti-Israel rally in downtown Toronto.

On May 18, 2024, Naseer posted a video on Instagram of herself participating [00:01:28] in the encampment. In the video, anti-Israel protestors held [00:00:03] a sign that said: “WE DO NOT CONDEMN RESISTANCE 🔻…”

Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for nationalistic terror and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.

The inverted red triangle is a symbol showing support for Hamas and Palestinian terrorism. It was first used by Hamas during the October 7, 2023 Hamas terror attacks to signify an Israeli target.

On May 24, 2024, Naseer was featured [00:00:04] in an Instagram video participating in the encampment. The video’s caption read: “The more they try to silence us, the louder we will be 🔻🔻🔻.”

In May 2024, Naseer posted on LinkedIn photos of herself at the encampment wearing a keffiyeh. She wrote: “ ST. GEORGECAMPUSUOFUNIVERSITYOFTORONTO GLOBALIZETHEINTIFADA …”

The term “intifada” translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection” and carries the connotation of terrorist violence, including suicide bombings, hijackings, shootings and stabbings.

The watermelon has been appropriated by terrorists and anti-Israel activists as a symbol of Palestinian "resistance" to "Israeli occupation," as it shares the Pan-Arab colors. It gained widespread popularity and usage following the Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023.

UofT is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
